Urgent: Road Closure at Turners Fold

(TURNER FOLD, READ, RIBBLE VALLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) NOTICE 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council consider it 
necessary because of the likelihood of danger to the public that the prohibition 
should come into force without delay under Section 14(2)(b) of the Road Traffic 
Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily prohibit traffic on the 
roads set out in this Notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of 
Turner Fold, Read from its junction with Whins Lane to its junction with 
Straits Lane.
2. Nothing in this notice shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out 
of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 08:30 hours on 24
th July 2026 until 
23:59 hours on 13
th August 2026 or until completion of the works within 
this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on 
site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with 
The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016
4. Nothing in Article 1 of this Notice shall make it unlawful to proceed over 
the said road if the vehicle is being used for or in connection with the 
conveyance of persons, goods or merchandise to or from any premises 
situated on or adjacent to the said road;
5. A diversion will be signed locally.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Lancashire County Council to 
repair a carriageway sink hole works.
